The Minelab Excalibur II series of underwater metal detectors are Minelab’s exclusive underwater and beach metal detectors. The Minelab Excalibur II 1000 and the Minelab Excalibur II 800 are the newest underwater and beach metal detectors in the Excalibur series of Minelab metal detectors. The previous models in Excalibur metal detector series were the Minelab Excalibur 1000 and Minelab Excalibur 800.

The Excalibur II 1000 and Excalibur II 800 have had noticeable improvements over their previous model counterparts. The biggest Minelab Excalibur II model improvements are the improved housing and cable shielding. This prevents some false signals and better reduction of interference from outside forces such as power lines.

The Minelab Excalibur series of underwater metal detectors use a unique Broad Band Spectrum technology. The BBS technology operates on a range of 17 frequencies from 1.5 KHz to 25.5 KHz which gives the metal detector the ability to move between environments and distinguish targets from their surrounding environment better.

For example, the Minelab Excalibur metal detectors are able to move seamlessly from a forest environment, to dry sand, to wet sand, to waist deep fresh or salt water and then down to 200 ft under the water and diving without skipping a beat. This sets the Minelab Excalibur apart from many other metal detectors, making this one of the most versatile and capable metal detectors on the market.

The difference between the Minelab Excalibur 1000 and the Minelab Excalibur 800 is in the size of the coil attached to each detector. The Excalibur 1000 and the Excalibur II 1000 detectors have a 10-inch coil. The Excalibur 800 and the Excalibur II 800 detectors are equipped with an 8-inch coil.

The Minelab Excalibur series underwater and beach metal detectors are unique and in a class of their own. They outperform many beach metal detectors that use Pulse Induction technology with the unique VLF BBS technology. The Minelab Excalibur’s feature an automatic iron rejection function and discrimination which allows you to skip over trash and other junk which will slow down many other detectorists.
